Step out of the busy pace of life and into the Somerset countryside for this relaxing and rejuvenating Winter retreat in the beautiful Pennard House!

​The start of a new year brings a lot of pressure to set resolutions and goals, to give things up or make some kind of drastic change in our lives. But naturally winter is a time for us to rest, and cocoon inwards. Why not invest in yourself this winter, carve out time for yourself and fill your cup up. A weekend of Pilates, walking, wild swimming, delicious food, connection and relaxation. What better way to welcome in the New Year.

The Manor House

The beautiful Pennard House in Somerset

Pennard House is a beautiful, family-owned country estate. A hidden gem in the rolling Somerset country side. With over 4 acres of land to roam around, multiple fires to snuggle up next to with a good book, and lovely big grand bedrooms, Pennard house really is the perfect winter getaway.

 

Last year we felt like we were in Downton abbey/ The traitors all weekend! The house is so grand, but cosy at the same time.

Facial Massage Workshop with Yin Life

Darcy Summerton is a holistic facialist specialising in gua sha and facial massage, drawing on principles from Chinese Medicine to support stress management and overall wellbeing. Her approach focuses on helping clients build personalised and nourishing self-care routines that fit into everyday life.
 

 

On Saturday evening Darcy will be guiding a Facial Massage Workshop where you'll learn techniques to tone, de-stress and rejuvenate your skin. This workshop will teach you how to use facial massage and acupressure points to boost circulation, reduce tension and achieve a natural glow. Whether you're new to facial massage or looking to deepen your skills, you'll leave with a self-care routine and the knowledge to make facial massage a grounding part of your day.

  • Arrive anytime from 4pm for snacks and tea

Saturday

  • 7am Herbal tea/coffe & snack available

  • 8:30am Energising Pilates class

  • 10:30am Brunch

  • 12pm Big walk

  • 2:30pm light lunch

  • Chill time/Get a treatment/ have a bath

  • 5:00pm Unwind Pilates class

  • 6:30pm Dinner

  • 8pm Workshop

 

Sunday

  • 7am Herbal tea/coffee & snack available

  • 9am Fluid Pilates class

  • 10:30am Brunch

  • Walk, swim, free time to enjoy!

  • 2pm Closing circle

  • 2:30pm Light snack

Frequently asked questions

​

I’ve not done much Pilates before, is the retreat suitable for me? Absolutely! Classes are open to all levels.

 

Can I come on my own? Can I share a room? We have single and double rooms available. If you would like to book and be paired up we can certainly organise this. I have been to a retreat on my own, and was paired up with a stranger who is now one of my best friends!

 

Can you cater for dietary requirement? Absolutely. The menu is completely vegetarian, and any requirements/allergies can absolutely be catered for, we just ask you let us know in the booking form.

Your Host

If we've not yet met, my name is Esmae and I'm so excited be back at Pennard for a second year running. I absolutely love movement, and I believe that Pilates can go way beyond the time we dedicate to the mat. Movement has the power to change our mood, calm the nervous system, help us find a deeper connection to our bodies, practice gratitude, kindness and so much more. Being on retreat is such a wonderful opportunity to delve deeper, take time to reconnect to yourself and your body. By exploring different modalities such as breath, movement, journalling and meditation whilst surrounded by beautiful and calm nature, my hope is that you leave the retreat feeling rested, calm and empowered. 

Location

Pennard House is located in the village of East Pennard, deep in the Somerset countryside. Bristol and Bath are 25 miles to the north and the journey to London is roughly 2½ hours by car,  or 1hr 45mins by train to Castle Cary.
